My name is Emma. My surname is not Charlesbeth. I made that name up to keep my real name a mystery (because mystery is the spice of life).
As you may or may not know--I would assume you do because you wouldn't be at this website otherwise--I write things. Any, by 'things', I mean that I write novels, short stories, etc., for teens and young adults. Usually I write fantasy, but I have been known to dip my toe into the cold waters of real life.
This website is the hub of my online life. It is full of information that is (mostly) specific to the previously mentioned writing. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the site. Feel free to contact me via the contact page.

My real name is Emma Charlotte Elisabeth [Insert Surname]. I've been writing my whole life. I grew up on witches and ghost stories. We lived in a railroad cottage, just across the train tracks from a neighborhood swollen with Victorian houses and rumored hauntings. I knew then then I wanted to be a writer...or a witch.
Unfortunately, my life wasn't all magic. Parts of it were dark and troubled. Those pieces of my life were what strengthened my relationship with the written word. I read and wrote as a form of escapism, momentarily stepping into the shoes of Sherlock Holmes, Elizabeth Bennett, Harry Potter, Wendy Darling, and any number of other people in better (or worse) shoes than I. Books became my family. I was raised by them.
When I was 22, I was diagnosed with a rare mental illness called dissociative identity disorder (or MPD). Another direct result of the non-magical parts of my youth, my disorder has been an inspiration throughout my writing journey. Thanks to my DID, I never fail to find something to write about.
